UK's Star Phoenix looks for hydrogen in Australia
London-listed Star Phoenix has signed a non-binding agreement with Australia’s Curtin University to jointly explore and develop natural hydrogen opportunities in Western Australia, it said on July 13.
Star said that a collaboration agreement with a national university could provide access to qualified researchers to undertake the work programme. The company is looking at a potential two-year work programme aimed at establishing production potential, it added.

The aim would be to appraise natural hydrogen production points in Western Australia, specifically in areas having a high iron-rich content and circular depressions. There are two key areas of interest for the company in the region: the Yilgarn Craton and the Pilbara Craton.
At this stage, the work programme would be funded by Star with an estimated cost of approximately £350,000 ($484,820) over a two-year period. The company would also enjoy exclusive rights to develop the hydrogen opportunity during the course of this joint work and all intellectual property discovered during the project would be owned solely by Star, it said.
