UK's Stats to Service Sakhalin Pipes
Aberdeen tech firm Stats Group has entered into a preliminary agreement to service pipelines at the Sakhalin-2 project in the Russian Far East.
The company said on September 12 it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sakhalin-2 operator Sakhalin Energy and Russia’s Intra Services. Under the document, it will work jointly with Russian partners on the maintenance, hydraulic testing, tie-in and isolation of shut-off of Sakhalin-2 pipelines.
Stats CEO said the partnership built on a beneficial relationship it had cultivated with Sakhalin Energy in recent years, and would aim to gradually localise content and technology in Russia.
Sakhalin-2 consists of 300 km of oil and gas pipelines linking offshore platforms with onshore processing and export infrastructure. Sakhalin Energy’s shareholders are Russia’s Gazprom, Shell, and Japan’s Mitsui and Mitsubishi.
