US LNG exports increase from last week

US LNG exports were up 9.5% between October 28 and November 3 compared with the previous week, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on November 5.

The EIA reported that 22 vessels laden with natural gas in liquid form departed export terminals during the seven days, carrying a total of 80bn ft3 of product.

Six of those vessels left from the Sabine Pass terminal and four left from Cameron, both in Louisiana. From Texas, five each left from Corpus Christi and Freeport. One departed from the Elba Island facility off the coast of Georgia and one left from Cove Point in Maryland.

There were 20 vessels laden with gas in the form of LNG that left domestic export terminals between October 21 and October 27, carrying a combined 73bn ft3 of product. That volume was 1bn ft3 less than the previous week.

More export potential is on the way, with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in October approving a request from Venture Global LNG to start work at its planned Plaquemines export facility in Louisiana.

Plaquemines LNG already has binding offtake agreements with Poland’s PGNiG, French utility EDF and China's Sinopec. A final investment decision on the liquefaction terminal and its companion Gator Express pipeline project is pending.

For piped deliveries, federal data show 5.5bn ft3/d of natural gas came in on average from Canada during the reporting period, less than the 5.8bn ft3/d during the previous week. Imports from Canada during the previous week were the highest since the third week of February.

The US sent 5.4bn ft3/d of natural gas on average to Mexico during the reporting period, compared to the 5.9bn ft3/d sent out during the previous week.
