American Energy Meets Polish Diplomacy

Poland's Foreign Minister declared in Washington, that new hydrocarbon regulations in the country will allow for American companies to successfully operate in Poland.

During his visit to United States, the Head of Polish Diplomacy Radoslaw Sikorski met the US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moriz. After talks, Sikorski said both sides "exchanged experiences" concerning environmental and tax regulations.

"We exchanged experiences concerning safety of the environment but also taxes,"  said Sikorski, quoted by news website rmf24.pl.

"We are relatively close to final decisions, which will allow Polish, European and American companies to explore and - as we hope - safely extract and - as we hope - profit on shale gas production, for the benefit of these firms, Polish consumers and Polish taxpayers." – added the minister.

Mr. Sikorski noted, that American gas could be an important additional supply in some parts of Europe, allowing especially countries of the Central Europe to find the alternative source to pipe imports from Russia.

He added that Poland, which next year is expected to open the first LNG terminal in the region at Swinoujscie, is looking forward for the United States administration to open way for exporting gas to Europe.
