US Regulator Approves Commissioning of Latest Rover Facilities

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on December 15 approved a request from Energy Transfer Partners to put phase 1B facilities of its 3.25bn ft³/day Rover pipeline project into service.

With the addition of the facilities, Rover is now capable of transporting 1.7bn ft³/day of natural gas from six new receipt points in the Marcellus and Utica shale basins. The new receipt points provide incremental receipt capacity of 2.45bn ft³/day.

Rover has been in partial service between Cadiz, Ohio and Defiance, Ohio since the end of August, capable of transporting 1bn ft³/day. When in full service, the 713-mile pipeline will transport Marcellus and Utica shale gas to markets in the US as well as to the Union Gas Dawn storage hub in southern Ontario.

The final phase of the project is expected to be in service by the end of 1Q 2018.
