Reuters: Voestalpine sees progress in South Stream talks

Voestalpine is making progress in advanced talks to provide a second tranche of heavy steel plates for Gazprom's giant South Stream gas transit pipeline to Europe, Chief Executive Wolfgang Eder said on Tuesday.

"I can't, from today's perspective, judge in concrete terms when and if a positive result is to be expected but the negotiations are making progress," he told reporters on a results conference call.

The company is still reviewing how such a delivery might be affected by European sanctions against Moscow over Russia's role in Ukraine.

"I am thoroughly confident that we can provide another tranche of plates for our partner OMK," he said.
