Warrego firms up exploration plan for WA permit

Sydney-listed Warrego Energy has firmed up exploration plans for STP-EPA-0127, an onshore permit located in Western Australia (WA), it said on September 9.

Located in the Coolcalalaya sub-basin, linking the northern Perth basin with the Carnarvon basin, STP-EPA-0127 covers 2.2mn acres and is the largest onshore Perth basin exploration permit application, the company said.

Warrego has submitted a six-year conventional work programme and budget to the WA department of mines, industry regulation and safety (DMIRS) for review and Native Title negotiations are at an advanced stage, it said. The company has identified leads with potential for gas and liquid hydrocarbons.

The company has received farm-in inquiries from a range of international and domestic potential partners. “Data room access has been provided to three interested parties on a confidential basis with further requests pending. Based on the high level of interest to date, Warrego is considering bringing forward the farm-in process,” it said.
