WA's Environment Watchdog Delays Browse Project Report
West Australia’s environment watchdog has delayed a decision on whether to support the proposed Browse liquefied natural gas project, causing another setback.
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) pushed back its judgment on the controversial proposal after an approach by the proponent, the Department of State Development, the West Australian reported.
EPA’s chairman Paul Vogel expressed authority’s inability to assess various new data collected properly in time for planned announcement on April 16.
"We were certainly geared up for reporting on April 16," Dr Vogel said. "We'd been working very hard to meet that schedule, both the EPA and everyone involved in the project."
