Williams, PennEnergy join to market certified gas
US pipeline company Williams and Appalachian producer PennEnergy Resources said August 8 they had entered into an agreement supporting the marketing and delivery of certified natural gas to utilities, LNG export facilities and other users.
Williams’ marketing platform Sequent will build a portfolio of customers for PennEnergy’s Appalachian production, 99% of which has earned Platinum certification from Project Canary’s Trustwell™ protocol.
The gas will be delivered through Williams’ extensive US network of gathering, processing, transportation and storage assets, which comprise more than 30,000 miles of pipeline across the country, including Transco, the largest volume gas pipeline in the US.
“This is another exciting step in our multi-faceted strategy to grow the delivery of next gen gas to markets across the US as well as overseas,” said Chad Zamarin, senior vice president of corporate strategic development at Williams. “With our large-scale gathering and processing footprint in the best US production basins, our connectivity to the nation’s biggest natural gas customers and our industry-leading Sequent marketing platform, we are extremely well positioned to facilitate the efficient gathering, marketing and transportation of responsibly sourced natural gas.”
In January, PennEnergy received Platinum certification from Project Canary covering 375 of its 378 wells in southwest Pennsylvania.
“We are excited for this partnership and future opportunities to deliver responsibly sourced natural gas to meet the market’s growing demands,” PennEnergy CEO Rich Weber said. “PennEnergy welcomes higher standards in the marketplace, which play to our strengths, highlighting our dedication and investments made over many years to ensure the safety of our employees, the community and the environment.”
