Woodside, China's ENN Join Hands
Australian Woodside and Chinese private sector gas distribution firm ENN Group have agreed to “work together to explore a broad range of potential business opportunities”.
“Woodside’s aim is to grow our relationship with ENN Group, and we now plan to jointly investigate opportunities for cooperation in LNG marketing, trading and shipping,” Woodside’s executive vice president for marketing trading & shipping, Reinhardt Matisons, said October 22.
Other potential areas for cooperation include oil and gas exploration and production, liquefaction and regasification projects, and power generation. Woodside is also planning to add to its existing LNG production portfolio with its proposed developments of the Scarborough and Browse offshore gas resources through the Burrup Hub in Western Australia, Matisons said.
ENN Group last week officially commissioned the first phase of the Zhoushan LNG import terminal, which received its maiden cargo in August. The 3mn mt/yr Zhoushan LNG receiving terminal is the first large-scale privately-owned terminal approved by China's National Energy Administration. The second phase of the terminal is expected to be completed by 2021, hiking the capacity to 5mn mt/yr.
