Worker Killed on Eni Adriatic Gas Rig
The body of a worker on an Eni offshore gas rig was recovered on March 6 following an accident.
The recovery came after a crane and its load fell at the Barbara F rig, which sits around 55 km from the coast of Ancona in the Adriatic Sea. Two other workers were injured when the crane broke away from the main structure and hit a supply vessel as it fell into the water, reported Italy’s Ansa news wire.

Fire brigade scuba divers found the body of the 63-year-old Eni employee inside the crane cab at a depth of 70 metres. Local prosecutors have opened a probe into possible culpable homicide. The injured workers are not in a life-threatening condition.
The Barbara field is on the continental shelf of the Adriatic Sea. It was discovered in 1971 and developed by Eni.
