Zimbabwe's Hwange Colliery Company to Venture into CBM Production

In a bid to diversify its business Zimbabwean coal miner Hwange Colliery Company Limited (HCCL) is looking to venture into coal bed methane (CBM) production.

The company wants to explore for CBM in Lubimbi in Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe, Daily News Zimbabwe, a local newspaper, reported earlier this week.

The company has issued a tender seeking partnership with interested bidders with technical and financial capacity to carry out exploration and drilling coal and coal-bed methane activities.

HCCL said it requires bidders to delineate CBM and coal resources and reserves, the newspaper reported.

The company seeks to use the CBM, coal resource and reserve statement for capital raising.

HCCL is a public company listed on the Zimbabwe, Johannesburg and London stock exchange.
