Aussie LNG export revenue down 25% in August: EnergyQuest

Australian LNG export revenue for August 2023 was reported to be A$6.02bn ($3.88bn), according to energy consultant EnergyQuest's announcement on September 18. This is higher than A$5.39bn in July, but down by 25% on August 2022. 

In terms of volume, Australia shipped 6.85mn tonnes of LNG last month, higher than the 6.58mn t shipped in July. Overall, Australia's August shipments were 80.6mn t/year on an annualised basis.

West coast shipments were higher at 4.94mn t in August versus 4.74mn t in July, with 71 cargoes in August compared to 68 in July. A year ago, the west coast shipped 68 cargoes of 4.7mn t. West coast projects operated at 93% of nameplate capacity during August, reported EnergyQuest.

East coast LNG shipments were higher at 1.9mn t in August compared with 1.8mn t in July, with 28 cargoes compared to 27 in July, and 29 cargoes of 1.9mn t a year ago. The east coast projects operated at 86% of nameplate capacity during August.
