Australia's Whitebark returns to production at Wizard Lake field in Canada

Australia-listed Whitebark Energy announced on July 3 that the Wizard Lake oil and gas field in Canada has resumed production.

The Rex-1 and Rex-2 wells have returned to production following scheduled workovers, with the field currently producing 120 barrels of oil/day and 120 barrels of oil equivalent/day of gas. These workovers follow the company’s recent partial divestment of the Wizard Lake asset, in line with a renewed focus on the Australian renewable energy markets.

As part of the transaction announced last month, Whitebark has been “free carried” for this return to full field production. Finalisation of the transaction remains subject to shareholder approval at a meeting to be announced shortly, the company said.

A workover rig is currently positioned over Rex-3, with the well expected to be brought back online on or before July 5. Rex-3 was previously producing over 100 barrels/day of oil and 150 barrels of oil equivalent/day of gas, with subsequent Wizard Lake production forecast to reach over 200 barrels/day with Rex-1, Rex-2, and Rex-3 online.
