Bright Renewables installs biogas upgrading system in Groningen

Bright Renewables, a Dutch technology company, has installed and commissioned a biogas upgrading system in Groningen, Netherlands, it announced on April 4.

“Biomethane production in the Netherlands continues to grow with our recently commissioned biogas upgrading system in the north of the country in the province of Groningen – allowing the client to deliver biomethane to the grid,” it said.

According to Bright, the biogas upgrader can produce enough biomethane to sustain the annual gas consumption of approximately 1,150 Dutch households.

One notable advantage of the biogas upgrading system highlighted by Bright Renewables is its superiority over traditional combined heat and power (CHP) systems that produce electricity. Biomethane, produced by the upgrader, is considered a more valuable and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, it said.

Moreover, Bright said, the system's efficiency rating exceeds 99.5%, minimising energy consumption.
