Canada’s NGIF Accelerator launches C$5mn Cleantech Challenge

NGIF Accelerator, the not-for-profit arm of NGIF Capital, said September 12 it was accepting applications for its C$5mn Cleantech Challenge, a global funding call for technologies supporting emissions reduction efforts across the natural gas value chain.

The Challenge, administered through NGIF Accelerator’s Industry Grants Program, is focused on four strategic areas: carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), methane management, energy efficiency and resiliency, and renewable natural gas.

The Challenge offers up to C$500,000 per project in non-dilutive grant funding, representing up to 50% of a project’s eligible expenses.

Applications are invited from global small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups offering novel technologies at a technology readiness level (TRL) of 4 or higher and that are non-subsidiary, independent technology firms employing fewer than 500 people.

Additionally, non-subsidiary and independent technology development start-ups employing fewer than 100 people, generate less than C$25mn in annual revenues and are focused on developing and scaling up pre-commercial technologies will also be considered.

Deadline for submissions is December 7, 2024, and funding decisions will be announced in May 2025. More information, including application details, can be found at the NGIF Accelerator website.
