Chevron, MOL to study CO2 shipping from Singapore to Australia
Chevron Corporation and Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) will study the feasibility of transporting liquefied carbon dioxide (CO2) from Singapore to permanent storage locations offshore Australia, they said on November 10 in a joint statement.
Chevron New Energies International, a unit of Chevron, and MOL have signed a joint study agreement to undertake the feasibility study.
Under the agreement, Chevron and MOL will explore the technical and commercial feasibility of initially transporting up to 2.5mn metric tons/year of liquefied CO2 by 2030.
Through its part in three joint ventures, Chevron was recently granted an interest in three greenhouse gas assessment permits offshore Australia.
