CNOOC starts work on world's biggest LNG tanks
Chinese state-run energy firm CNOOC has started to build the world's largest LNG storage tanks in Yancheng Binhai Port Industrial Park in Jiangsu province, Global Times reported on February 21.
The project includes six new ultra-large tanks, which will have a total storage volume of 270,000 m3 and reach a height of 60 m. The Jiangsu LNG Binhai import terminal, which will house CNOOC's six LNG storage tanks, is the largest LNG reserve base currently under construction in China, Global Times said.

Upon completion at the end of 2023, the project will include 10 tanks, including six new ultra-large tanks and will have an annual LNG processing capacity of 6mn metric tons/year.
China has overtaken Japan as the world's largest LNG importer. Last year, Chinese LNG imports were 78.93mn mt, up 18.3% yr/yr.
