Eni Plans $10 bn Investment in Pakistan Shale Project

Italy’s oil and gas firm, Eni has plans to invest $10 billion in three shale gas pilot projects in Pakistan and begin drilling wells next year. Three projects would require approximately 1,100 new wells, in addition to the 1,850 drilled in the entire country till date.

Also, Pakistan’s ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said in a statement that it is working on addition of gas from various sources including new discoveries, abandoned fields, marginal gases and flared gases.

The statement said that discussions were held on criteria, zonal distribution and pricing of gas from abandoned fields, marginal gases and flared gases. An expected 200 MMCFD gas is estimated to be added from these sources.
