France: Minister to Discuss Shale Gas in Televised Debate with President of Employers Union

Delphine Batho, French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy and Laurence Parisot, president of France's largest employers union, MEDEF, will debate the prospects of shale gas in the country, according to local media

The televised debate will air Wednesday on RMC/BFM TV and will be hosted by journalist Jean-Jacques Bourdin.

Earlier this year the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF) warmed to the idea of energy transition, paving the way to shale gas explorations in France.

The Minister recently reiterated the Government's aversion to shale gas. France adopted a bill banning hydraulic fracturing in 2011.
