Freeport LNG T2 Starts up

The second 5mn mt/yr train of the Freeport LNG plant has launched production, one member of the project EPC joint venture, US-based McDermott International, reported on December 6.

McDermott and its partners Chiyoda International and Zachry Group started up Freeport’s first train back in August. A third is due to come on stream in the first quarter of 2020, and the project recently secured financing for a fourth, which would bring its total output to 20m mt/yr.

“First liquid for Train 2 is another great accomplishment for the Freeport LNG project,” McDermott’s senior vice president for the Americas, Mark Coscio, said in a statement. “As we progress to first cargo for Train 2, we applaud the diligence and commitment of the project team for driving Freeport LNG toward a safe completion.”
