Gazprom Continues Campaign in the Balkans for South Stream Project
Russia’s Gazprom continues the campaign to foster the South Stream project in a meeting with Ivan Vrdoljak, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Croatia.
After meeting exponents of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Deputy Chariman of the Gazprom Management Committee Alexander Medvedev visited Croatia to gather further support for the pipeline project.
‘The parties discussed different aspects of the cooperation in the energy sector. Particular attention was paid to the South Stream project implementation in the Republic. In addition, the meeting addressed the issues of Russian natural gas supplies to Croatia, which were resumed in 2012, as well as the use of gas in power generation,’ reads a note released on Friday.
Medvedev discussed with Vrdoljak some pilot projects for municipal bus fleets gasification in Croatia.
In August, Gazprom announced its intention to invest RUB 13.8 billion (€310 million) in the next 16 months to upgrade the natural gas vehicles (NGV) system in Russia.
