Gazprom International Starts Drilling Gas Well in Bangladesh Under 2015 Contract

Gazprom International has commenced drilling of second gas well under an agreement signed with Bangladesh last year, the Russian company said last week.

The Bakhrabad-10 well is the second of the five wells that Gazprom will drill under agreements signed in September 2015 with Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd. (BAPEX), Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Ltd (BGFCL) and Sylhet Gas Fields Ltd (SGFL).

These agreements were concluded after Gazprom International successfully fulfilled its obligations under a similar contract for drilling of ten wells for Petrobangla's production structures in 2014.

Bakhrabad-10 is a slanted well with a projected measured depth of 3.063 m. The well is drilled with the objective of exploiting the Bakhrabad field, which is developed by BGFCL.

Gazprom International will design and drill three wells at the Rashidpur field, one well at the Srikail field and one well at the Bakhrabad field.

Gazprom International is the sole operator of Gazprom’s foreign upstream projects.
