Gazprom Ups Sales to Turkey by a Fifth
Russian gas giant Gazprom said it increased gas supplies to Turkey by 22.8% in the period from January 1 to September 15, compared with the same period of last year, according to preliminary data.
The data was reported by Russian economic news agency Prime, which also noted that Gazprom increased gas supplies to southeast Europe during the same period: by 25.2% to Hungary, by 34.6% to Serbia, by 17.7% to Greece, and by 10.4% to Bulgaria. Rates of increase are consistent with ones reported a month earlier to these countries.
Gazprom increased its gas exports to the 'far abroad' – Europe and Turkey but not including former Soviet Union (FSU) states outside the EU by 11.5% year on year during the period January 1 to mid-September to 133.6bn m3, the company said.
In full year 2016, Gazprom increased gas supplies to such non-CIS countries by 12.5% to over 179.3bn m3, an all-time high.
In early September, CEO Alexei Miller said that Gazprom in 2017 expects an absolute record for gas exports to the 'far abroad' of about 190bn m3.
