Glenfarne names Kiewit to lead EPC for Texas LNG

Glenfarne Energy Transition said November 4 it had selected global engineering firm Kiewit to lead the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of its 4mn tonnes/year Texas LNG project in Brownsville under a lump-sum turnkey (LSTK) structure.

Texas LNG will work with Kiewit, through its subsidiaries Kiewit Engineering Group and Kiewit Energy Group to complete the pre-final investment decision (FID) work required for the project to proceed to FID.

“Texas LNG received immense interest from world-class contractors that wanted to be involved in the project,” Glenfarne CEO Brendan Duval said. “Kiewit’s proposal, capability, and partnership vision for Texas LNG, as well as (its) significant execution and implementation expertise on the US Gulf Coast, made a substantial impression on our project team.”

In September, Glenfarne said it had secured sufficient offtake agreements to proceed to FID but it has yet to set a timeframe for that decision.
