H1 Output up 16.8% in Russia's Top Gas Region
Gas production in Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets region rose by 16.8% yr/yr in the first half, the local government’s department for natural resources reported on August 30.
Yamalo-Nenets, which contains part of Russia’s prolific Western Siberian petroleum basin, typically accounts for more than 80% of national gas supply. It produced 325.9bn m3 of gas in January to June, with state-owned Gazprom accounting for 271bn m3 or 76.8% of this volume. Privately owned Novatek produced 55.4bn m3 of gas in the area, or 15.7%.
Both companies have expanded output at key Yamalo-Nenets projects over the past year – Gazprom at its Bovanenkovskoye gas field and Novatek at its South-Tambeyskoye deposit. Bovanekovskoye's gas is piped to Europe, while South-Tambeyskoye's gas is liquefied and exported at Novatek's Yamal LNG plant.
Oil production in Yamalo-Nenets climbed 12% yr/yr to 17.145mn mt in the six-month period, while condensate output increased by 13.8% to 12.1mn mt.
