Icon Energy's Halifax 1 to Begin Hydraulic Stimulation

Icon Energy has said that Halifax 1, its shale gas well, is scheduled to commence hydraulic stimulation in mid-December 2012.

The well was drilled to a total depth of 4,267 metres and the company said that the well has exceeded expectations on all indicators and in company’s view the results from other gas wells drilled in the Nappamerri Trough to date.

A 15 stage stimulation of Halifax 1 across multiple zones will be guided by the ongoing stimulation results from the Moonta 1 and Streaky 1 wells in PEL 218, which is wholly owned by Beach Energy.

“Subject to successful flow testing a significant 2C Contingent Resource booking from Halifax 1 is expected to be available in Q1 2013 and Halifax 1 is only 2km from a gas pipeline making early monetisation a real possibility,” the company said.
