Indonesia Keen on Importing Iranian Gas
Indonesia announced readiness to barter food for Iranian natural gas, Jakarta Globe reported.
According to the report, Iran has offered to barter gold bullion or tankers of oil in return for Indonesian food and Indonesia appears ready to negotiate.
Indonesian Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan said Iran had yet to approach Indonesia, but that any barter offer would be considered carefully.
“If they really want to have barter trade with Indonesia and ask us to do so, then we have to study it first,” Wirjawan said, adding that if any barter trade was discussed, gas would be preferable to oil.
