Inpex Receives Ichthys Cargo
Japan’s Inpex Corporation February 12 said its Naoetsu LNG terminal in Niigata prefecture received the Oceanic Breeze tanker for the first time. It delevered a cargo from Ichthys LNG project in Australia.
Oceanic Breeze is owned by Oceanic Breeze LNG Transport, a joint venture between Inpex Shipping (30%) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K-Line) (70%) and designated to transport the 0.9mn mt/yr of Ichthys LNG entitled to Inpex.
The first Ichthys cargo was delivered to Inpex in October last year aboard LNG carrier Pacific Breeze.
The Ichthys LNG project is operated by Inpex. Other partners in the project are: Total, Taiwan's CPC, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric, Jera and Toho Gas.
Ichthys is scheduled to gradually increase its production volume of LNG to approximately 8.9mn metric tons/yr of LNG when it reaches its production plateau. Approximately 70% of the LNG produced by Ichthys LNG is scheduled to be supplied to Japanese customers.
