Iranian Gas Supplies to Iraq to Begin Next Summer

Iran will most likely start supplying gas to Iraq by summer of next year, local news agency was reported as saying.

Mehr News Agency has reported that pipeline connecting Iran to Iraq was more than 25 per cent complete. The under construction pipeline is expected to carry up to 25 million cubic metres per day of inatural gas to Iraq, Javad Owji, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Co., was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency. Cost of the pipeline is estimated to be $450 million.

With 34 trillion cubic meters of natural gas reserves, Iran has the world's second-largest natural gas reserves after Russia.
