Japanese LNG imports up 12% in April

Japanese LNG imports in April were 5.57mn metric tons, up 12.1% year/year, according to the provisional data published by the country’s finance ministry on May 19.

Japan’s shipments last month cost 557.2bn yen ($4.35bn), up 151% yr/yr. China has overtaken Japan as the world's largest LNG importer. Last year, Chinese LNG imports were 78.93mn mt, up 18.3% yr/yr.
