Jordan's Aqaba Gas Terminal to Start Operation in June 2014

Jordan is expected to begin importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from June 2014 onwards when work on gas terminal in Aqaba is likely to reach completion.

A report in Jordon Times says that the source of LNG will most likely be Qatar. The two countries entered into advanced negotiation earlier this year.

Jordan, which imports 96 percent of all its energy needs, was until recently dependent on Egypt for supplies. However, regular disruptions in supply were being witnessed to due pipeline being blown up.

Country's Egyptian gas supplies have dropped from some 250 million cubic feet (mcf) per day to less than 40 mcf over the past three years, the newspaper reported.
