Kazakh Gas Output up 1.8% in 2019

Kazakhstan’s dry gas production fell by 2.2% to 22.17bn m3, its state statistics committee reported on January 14, although associated gas output rose 4.5% to 34.26bn m3.

Overall output therefore came to 56.44bn m3, marking an increase of 1.8% yr/yr.

Kazakhstan is eager to increase gas extraction in order to support its domestic gasification programme and ramp up exports to China.

The Central Asia country does not disclose numbers for marketable gas production, although BP data places this as 24.4bn m3 in 2018. The majority of its gas is re-injected into oilfields to maintain well pressure.

Kazakhstan also produced 78.62mn mt of crude oil in 2019, up 1.4%, and 11.91mn mt of condensate, down 7.4%.
