LNP's Seeney Wants a Balanced CSG Debate
The Queensland government has warned it will sideline gas companies and environmentalists with extremist views about the coal seam gas (CSG) industry, Australian Associated Press said Wednesday.
Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney said a balanced debate is needed when it comes to the coal seam gas industry.
Seeney is of the view that stakeholders who espoused extremist views would only serve to limit their input in decision making, AAP said.
"If people aren't able to take a balanced view and aren't prepared to see the whole issue and are just going to drive their own defined agenda, then their chance for an input is fairly limited," he said.
He said the Liberal National Party (LNP) government supported a CSG industry but it must live up to world's best practice.
Seeney said industry stakeholders, environmentalists, landholders and the government must work together to achieve economic benefits and safeguard the environment.
