Maurel & Prom Hires Total Exec as CEO
Formerly a senior executive at French Total serving in Angola and southeast Asia, Olivier de Langavant will take the helm at Maurel & Prom, the subsidiary of Indonesian state-owned Pertamina, with effect from November 1, the company said October 3. He succeeds Michel Hochard.
Hochard has been CEO since 2014, during which time "the success of the group's financial restructuring and the success of its development strategy, has put the group in a position to pursue growth on a sustainable basis," the company said. Pertamina bought the Africa-focused French independent in early 2017.
De Langavant's industry knowledge, "together with his strategic and operational skills, will be invaluable to the group’s continued development,” it continued.
De Langavant joined Elf Aquitaine (now Total) in 1981 as a reservoir engineer before being appointed operations director in the Netherlands. From 2015 to 2017, he was Total's senior vice president for the AsiaPacific region, based in Singapore.
