MEC Resources Restarts Bonaparte Basin Gas Well Testing
MEC Resources’ investee company Advent Energy will soon know the full potential of its Waggon Creek 1 well onshore Bonaparte Basin, Western Australia, with the restart of production.
The production testing program in EP 386 is expected to take about five weeks to complete, Proactive Investors has reported.
Waggon Creek-1 had flowed gas at a stabilised rate of about 1.07 million cubic feet per day (MMcfd) from two intervals, 384.1 metres to 390.1 metres and 393.1 metres to 395.1 metres, in the Milligans Formation sandstone during a short flow test in 2011. This was suspended due to the northern wet season, the report said.
Advent has a 100% interest in EP 386 and RL 1, with EP 386 having estimated mean prospective recoverable resources of 556 billion cubic feet of conventional gas.
EP 386 and the neighbouring RL1 also contain shale areas that could host estimated risked recoverable gas of up to 9.6 trillion cubic feet.
