Nord Stream Completes Last Joint of Second Line

Nord Stream has announced that welding has been completed last joint of the second line, tying the marine section of the second line to the onshore portion and the ground infrastructure on the Russian coast in the Bay of Port near Vyborg.

Filling of the second line with technical (buffer) gas is planned to begin in the coming days, which is a final stage before its commissioning.

Gas supplies to Europe through second line of the North Stream pipeline is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2012.
