NuEnergy to Explore for CBM, Shale Gas in Malawi

NuEnergy Gas has received the nod to explore for coal bed methane and shale gas in Malwai for a period of three years.

The Australian firm will covers 346 square kilometres of prospective unconventional gas acreage in southern Malawi.

The company said that of particular interest are the coal shales of Permian Exxa Series which appear to be about 600 metres thick

These have the potential to produce economic quantities of gas for use by industry and the power sector in Malawi.
