Own A Piece of A Pipeline

Part of the South Stream gas pipeline will be listed at the stock exchange following permission of the European Commission, Bulgaria's Economy Minister Traycho Traikov said during a meeting with representatives of the business.

Traikov said that between 50 and 80 per cent of the shares may be offered to third parties.

"The situation with the Nabucco pipeline project is the same - the stakeholders will keep the golden share and the rest will be offered to third parties. In the shareholders agreement of 2008 it is provided that 100% of the pipeline's capacity belongs to the shareholders. This amendment to the agreement was not discussed during Borissov-Putin meeting in Sofia on November 13, but if it remains unchanged, one of parties in the agreement could claim the whole pipeline, if there is a clash of interests at some time," Traykov said.
