Petronas, Baker Hughes sign MoU

Malaysia’s Petronas has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Baker Hughes to work on enhancing operational excellence, energy transition, education and capability building.

The MoU outlines a framework in which both companies will combine their expertise to optimise sustainable delivery of energy offerings while leveraging on technology and digitalisation, Petronas said on November 16.

The collaboration will specifically advance Petronas’ ventures in delivering low-carbon energy options, namely in the fields of hydrogen, carbon capture, utilisation and storage, digital solutions, as well as sustainability and emissions management.

“We believe that creating a sustainable future will require collaboration, partnership and commitment from all.  We are delighted to continue strengthening our partnership with a reputable technology partner like Baker Hughes as we continue on this energy transition journey,” Petronas CEO Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik said.

The Malaysian state-run company in the past week signed agreements with ExxonMobil and Technip Energies to develop carbon capture technologies.
