Russian Gas Output Up 3% In 7M-2019

Russian gas production climbed 3% yr/yr in the first seven months of 2019, arriving at 431.9bn m³, data published on August 2 by the energy ministry shows. Output was up 0.5% yr/yr in July at 54.66bn m³.

State-owned Gazprom reported on August 1 that it had produced 294.5bn m³ of gas in the seven-month period, up 1.9% yr/yr.

In second place was privately owned Novatek, which lifted 40.86bn m³, according to the ministry, followed by national oil company Rosneft, which extracted 25.43bn m³. Independents Lukoil and Surgutneftegaz produced 11.93bn m³ and 5.58bn m³ respectively.

More than 80% of Russian gas is produced in the Yamalo-Nenets province of western Siberia, a figure that could rise as more gas is fed into the growing number of LNG plants. The start up of the giant fields in eastern Siberia will also see production rise in that part of the country. The Power of Siberia line to China is to reach 38bn m³/yr in the coming few years.
