Shell Rules Out Full Prelude FLNG Restart in 2020

Shell has ruled out full production at the Prelude floating LNG project in northwest Australia resuming this year in a brief statement on October 15.

The 3.6mn metric ton/year Prelude FLNG was shut down in February after a power failure. The terminal is jointly owned by Shell, Japan’s Inpex, Korea Gas and Taiwan’s CPC, having shipped its first gas in June last year after long delays.

"We continue to work through the process for hydrocarbon restart," Shell said. "Full production is not expected to resume before year-end."
