South Pars Phase 11 Not Included in Iran Petroleum Contracts

Iran will not include phase 11 development of South Pars gas field under its new model, Iran Petroleum Contracts (IPC), state owned Shana News reported Sunday.

Earlier reports suggested that the phase will be opened to foreign firms.

The phase is being developed for a daily recovery of 56 mcm of sour gas to be used for production of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and 80,000 bpd of gas condensate, Shana added.

Development of the upstream section of phase 11 of South Pars was awarded to France’s giant Total and Malaysia’s Petronas in 2000. However, due to continuous delays, Tehran finally cancelled the contract. Later on the project was offered to CNPC in 2009 which was called off again due to delays.

Last year, NIOC decided to assign the development of the offshore segment of phase independently to an Iranian contractor.
