Statoil's Algerian Gas Asset Attacked by Militants
Statoil on Friday said its In Salah gas asset in Algeria was hit by explosive munitions fired from a distance.
“Statoil has been in touch with its three employees at Krechba. They are not injured and they are safe,” the company said in a press statement.
The Norwegian company said it is working on getting an overview of the situation, but has so far no information about anybody being injured during the attack.
In 2013, Statoil’s In Amenas gas and condensate asset was attacked by militants. The attack resulted in death of 40 people, five of them Statoil employees. Statoil operates In Salah dry gas and In Amenas gas and condensate fields together with BP and the Algerian state oil and gas company Sonatrach.
