Steelhead Appoints Asia Sales Chief

Steelhead LNG, the company behind the up-to-24mn mt/yr Kwispaa LNG project in western Canada, said November 7 it has appointed an Asian marketing head.

Marina Surzhenko (pictured below, courtesy of the company) has been appointed director of LNG at wholly-owned Steelhead Asia, based in Singapore, where she will lead the negotiations of the company's LNG offtake contracts.

The company said she has 20 years of global experience in gas and LNG contracts negotiations and contract management, acquired during her time at Shell and Gazprom, including the negotiation of Russian natural gas sales contracts to China. She also worked for five years at Capital Group, an investment firm with US$1.6 trillion under management, where she was managed funds in the energy sector.

"Marina will be an invaluable part of our efforts to provide clean, low-cost natural gas from Canada to growing energy markets in Asia," said Steelhead LNG CEO Nigel Kuzemko, also formerly with Shell and Gazprom. She is educated in Russia, the UK and China and speaks Mandarin.
