Strike Confident on Hitting Commercial Flow at Oz Cooper Project
Strike Energy is confident it has cleared the subsurface and well execution hurdles it needs to in order to model commercial flow rates of gas from its Jaws wells at its Australian Southern Cooper Basin Gas Project, the company said July 2.
“We at Strike are very pleased with the delivery standard of the Jaws-1 wells and the amount of information we have derived from the activities,” Strike’s managing director Stuart Nicholls said.
“When we model the newest and latest subsurface information in conjunction with the Jaws production systems, we are very optimistic about the well’s ability to deliver against its primary objectives of producing commercial flow rates of gas, and as a result, Strike is eager to begin the production testing,” he said.
Strike said that during Jaws-1, it acquired significant volumes of data that has been used to determine whether the well is capable of producing gas flows at a rate within the company’s forecast commercial range.
While analysis of the data has lead to the company’s confidence of flow rates sufficient to underpin the booking of a reserve, the model that supports the assessment is still subject to further tests and estimations.
Strike said May 28 that it expects the Jaws-1 project wells to be online early-to-mid-July.
Strike is the operator and holds a 66.67% stake in the project, while Energy World Corporation has the balance.
Strike has previously said it aims to achieve commercial gas flow rates at 50 TJ/day (1.34mn m3/d) project.
