Strong Response for China's Second Shale Gas Bidding

China's second round of shale gas bidding has attracted more than 200 firms from the private sector. The bidding process will begin later this month.

The country had opened shale gas sector for independent mining operation, which allowed private players to get into the sector. Till then the sector was open to only state owned firms.

With rapidly growing energy demand in the country, China has increased focus on shale gas and has set a target of producing 6.5 billion cubic meter of gas by 2015.
