Sydney Morning Herald: Santos Eyes Sale of Infrastructure Assets

Santos chief executive David Knox has flagged company plans to raise money by selling its valuable Gladstone LNG gas pipeline next year, with more infrastructure asset sales on the table.

Answering questions from journalists at a Macquarie Group conference in Sydney on Thursday, Mr Knox confirmed that the company is moving ahead with plans to sell the pipeline it has built to service the GLNG site once the project is up and running.

"We see an opportunity to monetise the GLNG pipeline and that is clearly on the table. We are in discussion with our partners, and potential buyers for that matter, but it's a long process".

How much the sale of the GLNG pipeline is likely to net Santos will depend on the tariff structures in the deal, but it is estimated to be worth a few billion dollars.

The CEO stressed that the sale was not likely to be until after GLNG starts production, which is on track for the third quarter of this year. MORE
