Turkey, China to build Tuz Gölü gas storage
Turkey and China have signed a deal for the construction of Turkey's largest underground natural gas storage facility under Tuz Gölü (Lake Tuz).
Turkey needs to build five or six more gas storage facilities to meet demand, country’s energy minister said.
The country currently has a natural gas storage facility in İstanbul’s Silivri district with a total capacity of 2.1 billion cubic meters.
With the finalization of Tuz Gölü project Turkey’s total natural gas storage capacity will be 3.6 billion cubic meters which would be 10 percent of total annual natural gas consumption, said the minister.
