Turkmenistan Completes 40km of East-West Gas Pipeline

Turkmenistan has completed first forty kilometres of its East-West gas pipeline project.

The 766 km pipeline with a carrying capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year will likely be ready in another five years. The pipeline will run from the gas compressor station Shatlyk in Mary province to the station Belek in the Balkan province.

The country is planning to increase the pace of construction by bringing in new machinery and welding equipment.

The new East-West gas pipeline will ensure establishment of the system cross-feeding of major fields of Turkmenistan, provision of flexible manoeuvring of gas exports, as well as increasing the reliability of domestic gas supply.
